Making sure the voice of the patient and the carer is heard in the NHS and Cornwall Council
For over five years we have organised a Network of interested organisations and individuals to collect their views and experiences of health and care services.
We have fed these directly to health service planners, managers and clinicians, and seen that this voice has influenced key decisions, e.g. plans for new in investment in St Barnabas Hospital. We want to keep this Network going, and to hear from everyone who has an experience of health and social care to share – good or bad.
As the landscape has changed, the challenge now is to take up the option of joining ‘Patient Participation Groups’ in our local GP surgeries. If these work well, they should help make Practices more responsive to our needs and preferences.
At present the best way to have your voice heard is to contact your surgery and ask about joining your Patient Participation Group.
