The first pop-up in Saltash has proved a success, with many local crafters selling their wares from 5 Fore Street. We have now been able to pass over the reins of the project to Jo Baskott and Julie Angel. As a result, we are now looking for further opportunities in the town to carry on this success by occupying one or more of the empty shop units.
In particular, we are keen to attract local independent and specialist food vendors. If you might be interested in being part of this initiative, please get in touch through our community hub at 4 Fore Street. We could be the catalyst for setting up the retail entrepreneurs of the future.
Jo Bascott says…
“Julie & I were delighted when we began working in partnership with CEPL12 to turn an empty shop unit into Saltash’s first Pop Up. Our aim was to provide a means for local artists, crafters and start-up businesses to trade from their High Street; we currently have 26 of us sharing the shop at 5 Fore Street, with everyone helping to run the shop. We each have our own customers who wouldn’t normally have come into Saltash, helping to increase footfall and spend in the town centre.
“The Pop Up has provided a great opportunity for us all, and it’s been fantastic seeing our crafters’ confidence grow; several of our group have moved on to other ventures – such as setting up their own workshops – as a result of being in the Pop Up. The Saltash Pop Up wouldn’t have been possible without the support of CEPL12, our landlord, and of course our lovely customers, and we hope others are inspired by our success at no 5.”
