Pressures on the NHS and ‘overspending’ are being reported in the national press all the time. In Cornwall, the NHS is coming up with its own Plan to counter this, and there have been consultations across the county.
Two lively public meetings were held in Saltash recently, and objections to the ‘temporary’ closure of St. Barnabas Hospital have been vigorously made by many residents. It remains to be seen what impact the public voice will have.
Given the size of our town and its location in the South East of the county, we feel that Saltash should be given special attention.
To make that case, a few interested parties in Saltash have got together to try to protect residents from the reduction of health services in PL12. An alternative proposal has been put forward, which we feel better serves the needs of our community. You can read our proposal here.
We are pleased to say we’ve had an instant response from the powers that be.
Progress is being made to explore the viability of this Saltash proposal, so please keep abreast of developments. It is important that our voices are heard.
