Early January saw the start of our free ‘taster’ service which ran between Saltash and the Derriford Hospital site in the early morning and late afternoon. The feedback has been really positive so we are now starting to expand the service.
One passenger’s comments highlighted the environmental and practical benefits of this new service: “This is great, if I wasn’t on the bus I’d be in my car – so this is one less car on the road – and as a family we are working towards owning just one car.”
We know it will take time to build passenger numbers – and with funding support via Saltash Town Council we are able to test demand and plan the service around customers’ needs.
Our volunteer drivers have been driving the bus for our first two taster weeks, and now we are employing couple of drivers.
